Hi,

Input Director v2.3 has been released and can be downloaded from the Input Director web site.

New features include:
  • Profiles - A profile encapsulates the client systems, their configurations, and the monitor layout. Profiles are useful for many different situations, such as:
    • Using the same computer across different locations, each with their own set of computers
    • If one or more computers alternate between a varying number of connected monitors
    • If a monitor is shared between two computers, different profiles can be configured and assigned hotkeys to quick switch between them
  • Quick switch between profiles from the ID context menu, by hotkey or via the new command line tool
  • Auto switch between profiles when the number of monitors connected to the Director changes
  • A new command line tool makes it easy to query and drive Input Director directly or via a script
  • Command line integration can be disabled from the Security tab in the application
  • If using monitor numbers when editing a system's monitor layout, Input Director will display each monitor number on the monitor
  • A What's New window will pop-up once with information on the latest release when upgrading
  • Defaulted applying the Windows enhanced pointer precision setting, when directing clients, to false on new installs
  • Fixed bug that could block transitions in the corners of a screen
  • Input Director will now notify when disabling itself due to remote desktop being active and display options to re-enable or change its behaviour
  • Upgraded OpenSSL library to v3.3.1
  • Minor bug fixes

Id v2.3 is great, a major upgrade from previous versions. I can stop using my hacks for profile support, and can use scripting tools!

fyi - I'm sometimes running into issues with the mouse not transitioning between monitors, but toggling no screen edge transitions on, and then back off solves that problem.

Now if ID only supported bidirectional mode ala mouse without borders, itd be perfect!

Hi,

If by bi-directional mode, you mean that any computer can be used to control any other, Input Director has been able to do this for a while. Instructions on how to setup that up can be found here

Bidirectional means that there's no client or server.

With mouse without borders, I can start off using the physical keyboard and mouse on computer a to control computer a+ b, then switch to using the physical mouse and keyboard on computer b to control a+b seamlessly.

It's quite handy and I do use that feature very frequently with mouse without borders. I'm using a hardware KVM to switch my mouse and keyboard between computers, especially to also switch certain peripherals, or if one computer's rebooting and I'm installed stead controlling the other. Also helps in case input director or mouse without borders starts lagging even though I use the wired ethernet connections.

Hi,

Input Director can do bi-directional control by configuring each computer as both a client and director. You can then grab the mouse from any computer and use it to control it or any other computer.

Woah awesome!!!!  You made me very happy. I never tried it because It never  occurred to me to set up each machine as a master and a slave simultaneously.

Now is there  any way for the config to be smarter/more automatic?
IE - 1) Why do i need to explicitly tell input director how many monitors are on a slave?  It could talk to ID slave and ask how many monitors are attached?
2) any way for ID to just read the monitor layout from windows? obviously we'd still have to tell it where the other machines are in relation.
3) right now I need to go set up the config on all three machines.  it'd be much easier if I could just do the configuration once.

And even more importantly, is there a way for us to get Microsoft's voice access working so that way it can send input to other computers?
