I have two Windows 10 PCs, both running ID. All works fine when in traditional Master/Slave config. But I want both PCs to be Master/Slave depending on which mouse I am using. I assume this is possible.

I have configured each PC using the respective Master config and Slave config settings. In the Global Preferences tab I selected "Auto-switch master / slave role".

On the left PC it transitions properly to the right PC, but not the other way around. When I "Scan slaves" on the right PC, I get a message "Slave "left PC" didn't respond".

Many thanks

Hi,

Try setting the Input Director preferred network interface on both computers (details on how to do so can be found here: http://www.inputdirector.com/faq.html#3_1).

Thanks for your message.

I still question whether what I'm trying to do is possible because in the link you sent it says "Input Director is enabled on all systems. One system must be enabled as the Master (and its ID icon will be red) and the rest as slaves (ID icons are green)". Both of my PCs are red because I want them to act as a slave and a master, depending on which cursor I'm moving.  Is what I want to do even possible?

Thanks

Hi,

Absolutely, you can set it so that either computer is the master based on which mouse you driving at the time. Setup both computer so that each can control the other and then enable the "Auto-switch" roles option on the Global preferences tab on both systems. The ID icon colour will change when you change the mouse you're using. This setup is even easier in v2.0 (currently in beta testing and will be released in about a week) as the there are no longer separate master and slave modes.

Thanks Shane, really appreciate your help.

Perhaps I should simply wait for the next release. How will I know if it's available?

Do you know if there is a tutorial for what I'm trying to do? Everything I read is about the traditional Master/Slave config.

Here is what I'm dealing with on the PC that has been configured as the Slave, that I am trying to configure as a new Master. The JBMEB1050 has been the Master and still operates just fine that way. Does this look right to you?
