I just set up ID on my wife's laptop (64 bit windows 7 home
professional) and her netbook (32 bit windows 7 starter). I can copy a
file from the slave to the master, but not from the master to the
slave. I hit 'Copy' on a master file, move the cursor over to the
slave, but when I right click, the option to paste is greyed out. I've
gone thru every option on ID and everything should be set up properly.
I also have ID set up on two other PCs - they can copy files properly
in both directions (both machines are running windows 7 ultimate 64
bit). When I setup ID, I only setup a single read-only shared
directory on the slave (set at C:\Users\Steven). This really seems to
be an incompatibility between ID and a mixture of 32 bit and 64 bit
windows. Or am I missing something??

You know that you need to setup that shared folder on both computers?

Try to copy a file by hand by opening your explorer and enter in the
address bar the IP or hostname of the computer were you want to get a
file copy.
Example: \\192.168.0.10 or \\MyWifesPC1

Try that in both directions to ensure there is no windows problem.

I created shares on both PC's. I entered \\computername on
the other PC and it listed the name of the share I created. I am
able to copy files between the two PCs, starting from either PC.
But Input Director still won't copy a file from the master to the
slave. One thing that's a little strange when it fails
I see no error messages. It acts like I never selected 'Copy' of a
file on the
master. When I run the cursor over to the slave the 'Paste' option is
either
greyed out, or it's active and when selected it simply copies a local
file, if
one had been previously selected.

Please try to use the IP address of the slave as host name in Input
Director AND in the explorer via \\Slave-IP-Address

You may also check or uncheck the setting 'Exclude default C$, D$,...
shares for file copy/pastes' and be sure to activate 'Share Clipboard'
at the 'Global Preferences' tab on both computers (master and slave).

I tried removing the existing slave from the master and added it back
using its IP address. No difference - I have exactly the same
behavior. If I un-check 'Exclude default C$, D$, ...' it just causes
an error message when I try to copy from the slave to the master (if
it's checked, it works).

To get around this ID problem, I put a shortcut to the master's
desktop on the slave's desktop. I then put a file on the master
desktop, move the mouse to the slave, open its shortcut, and copy and
paste the file.

I've %100 same problem. Networks shares works well. Also copying from
slave two master works well. But copying from master to slave is not
working. When I've pushed paste,(it is not greyed) there is a action
but no file.I mean my cursor changed to loading mode in a blink.
Machines succesfully connected (and trusted via nis 2010) together.
There is absolutely no problem with using Input director. I think it
is a 64bit/32bit problem. I've %100 same software version win 7. But
my master pc is 64bit and the slave one is 32 bit.

Hi,

Does either machine have two network interfaces (e.g. wired and
wireless)?

Regs,

Shane.

HI,
My master maching is a Toshiba netbook and the slave is an hp laptop.
Both machines are connected with their built-in wireless port. Both
machines also have a wired ethernet port but they're not plugged in
and they don't have an assigned IP address.

I too am experiencing this issue. File copy/paste from master->slave
does NOT work, but slave->master works fine. This sounds like a bug,
definitely something I hope will be fixed in the next release.

I had the same issue and after changing the network sharing settings it worked perfectly in both directions.

On the master or slave or both?

It is already set to “Turn ON password”…is that correct or do I turn it “off”?
