Firstly - thank you for such an awesome piece of software. I've used it for years and love it!

My issue - I have my keyboard and mouse connected to my laptop (Surface Pro 7) and use this as the master to direct my desktop PC. I often use the desktop PC for gaming and therefore have extended periods where no mouse or keyboard activity is present.

I have "Keep this system awake" set on both machines, but the laptop still goes into standby/sleep while controlling the slave, which then returns me to the master with the master locked. Very frustrating when you need to quickly operate the mouse on the desktop PC!

Anything I can do to prevent the laptop from sleeping in this situation?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have "Keep this system awake" set on both machines, but the laptop still goes into standby/sleep while controlling the slave, which then returns me to the master with the master locked. Very frustrating when you need to quickly operate the mouse on the desktop PC!

Is this happening whilst using the mouse/keyboard on the laptop?

I have the mouse/keyboard connected to the laptop, but I've switched Input Director to the Desktop PC.
As I said, I will quite often then not touch the mouse/keyboard for some time.

While using the mouse/keyboard on the laptop itself (i.e. Input Director on the Master), no - sleep does not randomly happen while it's in use.

Thanks

Hi Shane,

Just wondered if you'd had any further thoughts on how I can resolve this?
Essentially I want to prevent the Director system from sleeping while Input Focus is with a client (even if there's no activity on the mouse/keyboard)

Thanks

Hi,

Just so I'm clear - the Director system is going to sleep when you're using the keyboard/mouse attached to the Client system (to control the Client)?

If this is the case, then one thing you can do is setup the client to control the Director. So either computer can be used to control the other one. When you do this and have the "Keep this system awake" setting on, then neither computer will go to sleep when you using either of them.

So, the mouse and keyboard on the client are never used.
It's when I've "moved" the mouse over to the client from the director, so the client is being "directed", but then I don't use mouse or keyboard for some time. I guess the director system is seeing no activity at that time, so goes to sleep.
Hope that's clear.
I have found a workaround whereby I have a script which uses the IDCMD command-line tool to check if the status is "local" or with the client and then if "client," presses a virtual key to make the master think it's being used.
Thanks.
