Hi,

Input Director v2.1 has been released and is available for download from the Input Director web site http://www.inputdirector.com

New features include:
  • A new and flexible monitor layout system. Monitors can be positioned and resized to accurately reflect their physical locations and size differences
  • Shared clipboard file copy/pastes no longer require network shares, making it even easier to copy files from anywhere to anywhere
  • Can configure Input Director not to mouse transition to a client when a full screen application is active
  • If the Director system has a touch screen that is tapped whilst controlling a client system, input control is returned back to the Director
  • Can now configure Input Director to center the cursor on the primary screen when hotkeying to it
  • Can configure the jump hotkeys to transition between monitors instead of between systems
  • Mirroring can now be constrained to the primary screen on Client systems
  • Improved compatibility with Windows Remote Desktop
  • Fixed a bug could affect manually keying 3 digit ip address numbers into the ip address number fields
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the active window on a system to flicker when transitioning back and for between systems

Thanks,

Shane.

Why are all the important features missing which needs to be implemented?

- make it possible to send key bindings to multiple pcs at once not just one at a time
- allow mouse buttons to bind, ID doesnt seem to recognize mouse buttons as key
- give option to "test ping" clients, it is super annoying ID doesnt recognizes a client coming on for ages, give option to set a ping timer manually to probe if a client is on or not

Hi,

Determining what goes into a release is always a balancing act that includes considering the most requested features (such as flexible monitor layouts), the underlying technical design roadmap and  other (the more esoteric) features that can fit into that scope.

- make it possible to send key bindings to multiple pcs at once not just one at a time

This is on the future features list and slated for one of the next releases.

- give option to "test ping" clients

This option can be found on the "Director Preferences" tab (scroll down to the bottom, it's the "Check offline systems availability every" option).

Regs,

Shane.

Updated to 2.1, had the client PC mouse freezes twice already (had to reboot, keyboard working). Did not happen with previous version.

Hello Shane,

Sounds lovely. Will there be an update for commercial users?

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you Shane! This is wonderful software that I use daily, and I'm glad to see it's being maintained.

I use F20 as a keybind on an extra mouse button and with the new version I can switch to the client system, but not back again. It worked fine on the previous version.

I don't know if there was such a thing somewhere in the discussions, but when I was looking for a solution to the network delay problem (network lag) I didn't find such an answer.
My problem and solution: there is a PC and a laptop. Both are connected via LAN.
At some point I noticed that if the laptop is a master, then everything works fine. If the PC is a master, then there is a network delay on the laptop.
If you drive the mouse slowly, then everything is fine, if you drive fast, the ping is constantly increasing.
I tried to reinstall the system, tried to connect a PC and laptop directly (without a router). The result is the same. There are no delays in one direction, there are delays in the opposite direction.
I found a way out by accident. The Microsoft All-in-One Media wireless keyboard was to blame. For some reason a program for changing buttons was downloaded on the laptop. This program was climbing into autorun. By disabling it from autorun, I got rid of the input lag.
Apparently, Input Director somehow conflicts with this program.
I'll explain just in case. I use a laptop as a media server. A TV is connected to it. And in order not to get up to the laptop, I use Microsoft All-in-One Media.
I don't know where it's best to write this, but I want to share a possible bug.
I apologize in advance if there are errors in the text, I use yandex translator.

Anti,

I use the 'Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center' to allow me to define some shortcuts to some special "favorites" keys on it.  I don't think I've specifically had any issues between it and InputDirector, but I've had other odd behaviors with it.

Can you let us know what the file name of EXE that you disabled?  Also, when that's running normally, is there something like a system tray icon for it?  If so, what's it called (either the hover text or the name of the window that pops up to use it)... just so we can make note of it for future reference?

thanks!
Scott
