We are using Delphi 5PRO to connect to a AS/400 database. It all seems fine
until we try to scroll up and down our DBgrid, then the client machine gives
the error "Record number cant be determined by driver" We cant find this
error anywhere in the documentation.

We have also moved all the data off of the AS400 into DB files and run
another ODBC connection, and this NEVER gives these errors, it is also much
quicker because it is not moving data across the network.

We are using the ODBC connection that comes with Client Access.

We have Noticed also that the machine takes about 50 Seconds to process its
first Query and from then on about 3 to 5 seconds. Is this due to the AS400
giving ODBC a low level of Priority or is it that the first query causes the
AS400 to create a process stream (thingy) for our connection ?

If any one know where to look or what the solution is please let us know.

Thanks

Colin,

Perhaps you have defined your query only as a scroll-down query. In that
case it is not possible to scroll-up.
