With 'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters' only a few months away, it's time that we got down to brass tacks and started asking the important questions. Questions like "Was anyone, anywhere, actually looking forward to another 'Percy Jackson' movie?" Snark aside, the new 'Sea of Monsters' trailer goes a long way to justifying its existence by showing off lots of monsters. Lots and lots of monsters.

This is the kind of trailer that opens with Anthony Stewart Head as a centaur and concludes with some kind of massive devil-monster wreaking havoc in what appears to be an amusement park. The 'Percy Jackson' series may not be particularly hip and Logan Lerman is a shrug-worthy leading man at best, but any movie that appears to feature as many crazy monsters and mythical beasts as this one does deserves at least a little attention.

It'll be interesting to see how this one performs, especially since the first (and far more expensive) film failed to ignite in any way. Now that the Harry Potter franchise is no more, there's an audience desperately searching for their next big genre movie fix. Could this be the movie that fills that gap? Or has 'The Hunger Games' already done that job?

In this second installment of the Young Adult novel-adapted storyline, Logan Lerman returns to the screen as Percy Jackson, the son of the Greek God Poseidon, along with his pals -- Alexandra Daddario's Annabeth and Brandon T. Jackson's satyr sidekick Grover. After traveling to Hades and back in the first film, the trio now must dive deep through the Sea of Monsters, known more commonly as the Bermuda Triangle. Their home/training grounds, Camp Half-Blood, is threatened by the titan Cronos, and only the Golden Fleece has the power to stop him.

As the first trailer (via Film.com) reveals, new (and old) enemies and allies will be introduced along the way, including Stanley Tucci as the leopard print-wearing Dionysus and 'The Hunger Games' star Leven Rambin as Clarisse, the daughter of Ares. Not to mention, fans of Greek myth will get a kick out of seeing live-action interpretations of classic monsters, like the Charybdis (aka the giant whirlpool with teeth).

Aside from teasing well-known sections of The Lightning Thief, this new trailer gives us a crash course in all things Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell). He's a 12-year-old demigod who must go on a quest to recover Zeus's (Lance Reddick) stolen Master Bolt from a mysterious thief. Along the way, Percy and his new friends Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) will encounter ancient monsters, powerful magic, and enough Greek gods to make Homer jealous. Percy may never have wanted to be a demigod, but I've never been more excited to relive my childhood obsession.
