"AICTE chairman S.S. Mantha said the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan had written to the council, saying they had surplus engineering institutions.

“The states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan have written to us that they do not want new engineering colleges. They have said there are many vacancies of seats in engineering courses in these states,” Mantha told The Telegraph."
