Please come this Friday night to what is sure to be an incredible concert produced by my good friend, flutist and composer Matt Samolis. I'm cutting and pasting his press release in the body of this email:
It's going to be a wonderful night of duos for flute & cello, premiering Charles Turner's 'Ancient Places' (w/ Naomi Gurt Lind, soprano), and Boston premieres of several pieces for solo guitar- most of them written for the performer Aaron Larget-Caplan. Wrapping up the concert will be a several episodes of spontaneous music from a great collection of Boston area improvisers from the Vortex Other Dimension Ensemble. Led by clarinet master Todd Brunel, the group's members change from night to night, keeping the music fresh and inspiring. These guys have a solid sense of ensemble, commitment and a passion for improvising toward compositionally minded results. They are sure to be an amazing compliment to the program of formal compositions in the first part of the concert.
Friday January 27, 8pm Church of the Advent Library 30 Brimmer Street (Beacon Hill) http://theadventboston.org/geninfo/direct.htm $10. suggested donation (all proceeds go to the performers!)
