When running the .exe just created by Innosetup, it should start with a screen with "You are about to install..." and a lot more info that I provide. It used to. Now I just get a stock screen saying "Ready to Install" and "Click Install to continue...".  Nothing wrong with the .iss file - I get the same problem when compiling one that compiled good before, with no changes made. The difference seems to be the Innosetup version. I recently got a new computer and had to install a newer version. I previously had Inno Setup Compiler 5.5.6(a).
I now have Inno Setup Compiler 6.1.2, (but when I click Check for Updates it says 2.5.1.0 is up to date, which I don't understand).

What's wrong please???

Yes, that did it. Thank you Gavin.

FYI, this changed in 5.5.7 to conform to Microsoft guidelines. Welcome
pages are considered unfashionable these days.

You might want to consider moving your custom info to the "ready to
install" page -- if it's all just text, this is as simple as
implementing the UpdateReadyMemo event function.

Thanks for that info - I had obviously not bothered updating in quite some time.

I like the Welcome page, and so does this client. Got it back, but ran into another problem. He got error messages (code 5) on several files being installed (updating existing stuff). Tried disabling his Norton stuff, but still the problem (maybe he didn't entirely disable enough - I'm not too familiar with Norton). Anyway, I uninstalled InnoSetup, and found my previous version (5.5.6)  to install. All seems well again - he has no problems with my setup created with this version.

At this point I'm not seeing any reason why I should update - am I missing something I should know about?

Start at https://jrsoftware.org/files/is6-whatsnew.htm and read down
through all the changes until you reach the version you're currently
running. (You'll have to click through to additional pages a few times.)
