Hello.

In this thread I will post news & updates about Graphical Installer. What is that you ask?

It is professional extension for NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) and Inno Setup which allows to change the design of whole installer. It also allows to create installers with irregular windows (parts of window can be fully transparent).

Offers fully customizable installer interface! It is possible to change design of whole installer: Custom picture for installer background, icons, buttons, scroll bars.
Custom colors for texts - Headers, labels, links, static texts. Custom colors for button texts in various situations - For normal, focused, pressed and disabled state. Custom colors for installation progress bar - Foreground and background and many more elements...

Recently the new version v6.0.4 (Vanka) for Inno Setup 6.0.4 was released. Changes:

• Support for Inno Setup 6.0.4 (see changes)
• Graphical Installer name and version now exactly matches Inno Setup version to avoid misleading version and incompatibility issues
• All examples now use 'OutputDir=userdocs:Output' and 'PrivilegesRequired=lowest'
• Installer: Added warning if the versions (from above) do not match exactly
• 10 new buttons (Modern style)
• Added possibility to select the installer's language on startup
• Graphical Installer Wizard v1.14.01:
• Typing color manually into box
  (any GIW color - buttons, texts, ...) now immediately colorizes the associated shape with entered color
• United naming and versions - BitmapCutter version now matches the GIW version
• Note: version 1.13.01 was skipped as 13 is considered an unlucky number in Slovakia

We released new version of Graphical Installer: v6.0.5 (Wonka)

Changes:

Hello.

We released new version of Graphical Installer: v6.1.2 (Xenka). Changes:

• Support for Inno Setup 6.1.2 (Also 6.1.1-beta and 6.1.0-beta, see changes)
• BitmapCutterGUI has been completely refreshed
  - new design and features
• BitmapCutterGUI now allows pasting image directly from Clipboard (Ctrl + V):
  It supports image data (like picture from MS Paint, Gimp, Photoshop or similar editor) and Base64 data (e.g. from www.base64-image.de)
• BitmapCutterGUI now allows to save the resulting file to disk (if image data was pasted from Clipboard)
• Graphical Installer Wizard v1.16.01:
  Improved script generating in newest Inno Setup versions
• How to create background image for NSIS (Inno Setup)? articles from online Tutorial were added to offline Manual
• Added more details into BitmapCutterGUI section in offline Manual

We released new version of Graphical Installer: v6.2.0 (Yanka) Released on 11th July 2021. Changes

• Whole manual is more user friendly - new tips, troubleshooting sections and more

• Official support for electron-builder scripts (converting any electron-builder .iss scripts)
• Added more details to offline and online documentation
• Wizard is now faster and more straightforward (requires less steps/clicks)

Hello. We released new version of Graphical Installer:

Build: 6.2.2 Released on 13th March 2023

• Support for Inno Setup 6.2.2 (see changes)
• Changed naming convention: instead of "Version" the term "Build" is used. Build number matches the official Inno Setup version
• This release is focused on new feature "Custom Dimensions" and improved user experience
• When setup throws a runtime exception, more detailed information is shown in message box
• Added new example Custom Dimensions
  to show how to create setup with custom Inner Dialog position
• Fixed bug in Format Pascal scripting function
• Updated several examples with refreshed bacgrounds

• There is no release of Graphical Installer specifically for Inno Setup 6.3.0/6.3.1. These versions had some issues that were fixed in 6.3.2.
  We recommend use Inno Setup 6.3.2 only.
• This release is focused on stability and standard Inno Setup features

Released on 27th July 2024

• Support for Inno Setup 6.3.3 (see changes)
• We recommend to use this version because it contains 3 important fixes from recent versions:
  - Improved support for ASLR (6.3.3)
  - Pascal Scripting change: Fixed support function TStream.Seek (6.3.2)
  - Fixed Compiler IDE startup error on systems with very high DPI (6.3.1).

We released new version of Graphical Installer for latest version of Inno Setup.

Graphical Installer for Inno Setup

Build: 6.4.1 

Released on 22nd February 2025

• Support for Inno Setup 6.4.1 (see changes)
• There is no release of Graphical Installer specifically for Inno Setup 6.4.0. That version had some issues with hidh DPIs that were quickly fixed in 6.4.1.
  We recommend to use Inno Setup 6.4.1 only.
• Inno Setup 6.4.x has many changes in Compiler IDE and its Delphi source code has been reorganized.
  We have completely refactored the Graphical Installer to fit this new structure and also reorganized it.
• If you are using any older Inno Setup version (especially 5.x or 6.3) we strongly recommend to update to 6.4.
  There are several encryption algorithm improvements that leads to increasing security.
• This release is focused on increasing security and refactoring

Graphical Installer for Inno Setup

Build: 6.4.3 Released on 20th June 2025

• Support for Inno Setup 6.4.3 (see changes)
• There is no release of Graphical Installer specifically for Inno Setup 6.4.2. That version was quickly replaced by 6.4.3.
  We recommend to use Inno Setup 6.4.3 or 6.4.1.
• Inno Setup is now built using Delphi 12.1 Athens instead of Delphi 11.3 Alexandria.

• If you are using any older Inno Setup version (especially 5.x or 6.3) we strongly recommend to update to 6.4.

• This release is focused on increasing security and refactoring


• Graphical Installer Wizard, Build: 2025.1:

• GIW is binary compatible with previous version.

Hello community!

We at unSigned received a lot of questions when the new version of Graphical Installer for Inno Setup will be released.

Long story short: we stopped development of Graphical Installer for Inno Setup.

We reviewed the newer versions and Inno Setup now contains basically all features of Graphical Installer. There is no more reason to develop GI it because having Inno Setup is enough.

 

Some personal background:

When I started development of GI about 10 years ago there were plenty of features missing in Inno Setup and GI was about to fill this gap.

But now everything can be done, no extra tool is needed. Inno is now good – really good, contains everything for making cool looking design installers like GI did it, easily, without additional stuff.

Version 6.7.0 (and coming version Inno 7!) is all you need and it works great, out of the box. 

Inno Setup is now in state how I personally always wanted it. Its both good and bad for me, but I am finally happy with it :)

We will keep Graphical Installer for Inno 6.4.3 (last non-commercial version) available for months, maybe 2-3 years because of users that are unable to upgrade.

You can still purchase it, any purchased license will now work without limitations for unlimited time. We understand not everyone is able to use the most recent version.

After that GI will be officially retired, unable to be purchased.

Some features were migrated to Install Designer - feel free to use it instead of GI to create and edit Inno Setup dialogs, now fully skinned.

We continue with development of Graphical Installer for NSIS - it is completely separate product.

Visual & Installer (for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 - 2026)  and RAD & Installer (for Embarcadero Delphi and C++ Builder 2007 - 13.1 Florence) 

work independently and will work with any Inno Setup version.

We are currently working on support for Inno Setup 7, so everyone will be able to work with Inno Setup 7 scripts in their favorite IDE.
