ThanksYes, I have used the Excel import extensively. The problem is that I need to be able to bulk-copy-paste Excel data into items (and their associated fields) on existing boards / groups, and that need is not addressed by the Excel import function that can only import data into a new board.

Hi all! Thanks for the feedback on this, I appreciate you taking the time to highlight your current pain-points for this and we see the need. I will be sure to pass this along to our team and have them take a look for planning.

Can you please consider the ability to copy and paste cells within a board?

We often have bulk updates where the cells might be the same and i spend a lot of time just manually clicking on status or date fields where in excel i could just bulk copy and paste

I need the ability to select multiple cells and either be able to copy them or paste them. Often, I will need to input mass data which is different per row eg different date for 20 rows or add in external IDs for a bunch or rows. This means I cannot select them all and change the content of a cell as I need different data in different rows.

Also, I would often need to select multiple cells and copy them out eg into excel or an email. Currently, I have to export the data and manipulate it a load. It would be really simple if I could select eg 10 rows x 4 columns and then copy or paste into them

We would like to know if you plan to add a copy/paste feature on the Desktop Client so that an IT support person doing a remote control session on a screen sharing of a User needing help can copy commands from his/her local machine and paste them on the remote.

@dave3 also having the same issue here where I used to be able to copy/paste local to remote but no longer am able to. Please let me know if you figure out how to do it again, because it really messes up my workflow.

Ditto. I chose Zoom over many other solutions, pre-pandemic, specifically because of its flawless copy/paste both from local to remote, and from remote to local. Most other solutions either blocked copy/paste or only worked one direction, local to remote or vice versa.

I am extremely disappointed that the functionality has been spotty, or just outright broken, for months now. If no solution or workaround is found there is very little reason to keep Zoom for our team or corporate solution.

I am familiar with this option, it appears to be defaulted to enabled for me and all my coworkers. Regardless of the default value coworkers and myself tested this option and it has made zero difference in any copy/paste tests from the desktop client (enabled on one side, enabled on both, etc.). We have tried desktop clients for Linux to Linux, Linux to Mac, Linux to Windows, Mac to Windows, etc., and in all cases the copy/paste fails.

My coworker has resorted to opening up a second zoom instance via web browser so he can use it strictly as a clipboard buffer. So it seems the web/chrome client can copy/paste but the desktop clients appear to not work as expected. Obviously the remote controlled session has this enabled and is allowing clipboard sharing, because it works from a web client at the same time it does not work from the desktop client.

I am forced to open the entire project and shift-select every row to copy then paste below. This is really frustrating, because it means I can't keep a folded "template" at the top of my sheet top be re-used multiple time in the same sheet.

I would suggest saving the hierarchy to a separate sheet instead of the top of your current sheet. Then you can use the Copy to Another Sheet command to move the entire section to your destination sheet (see: Copy Rows to Another Sheet).

@Genevieve P Hi I have the same issue as @Manu but I see what you provide as an answer is in conflict with what the smartsheet help files say. This is what they say below and it clearly indicates that hierarchy will be copied ny just copying the parent row - that doesn't happen though:

NOTE: If you select parent rows, all child rows underneath will also be copied. After you copy the rows, you can delete the child rows from your destination sheet if you don't need them. For more information on parent and child rows, see Hierarchy: Indenting and Outdenting Rows.

If you're coping across sheets, from Sheet A to Sheet B, then the information in the Help Article (Copy Rows to Another Sheet and the information you detailed above) will be correct, child rows will come across.

I opened a support ticket, but I can't close this pop-up no matter what I click or what browser I use and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. I'm LOCKED OUT of my work because of some stupid UI refresh alert. ?

In the screenshot below I have Field Mapping settings open and the fields (A,B,C) from 2 layers (table_A and table_B) are matched up. FYI - circled in red in the screenshot is the launcher button that opens up these settings:

One thing I don't understand about your screenshot: FLD_ZONE has a value of "D" in the table on the left and "A" in the table on the right. If the software was ignoring the "Keep source attribute values checkbox", I would expect null values in the right table (the target), not "A" So the mystery to me is where did the "A" come from?

One idea: Could it have came from an expression set up in the Field Mapping? I tried to replicate the schema you have and this is the expression that is automatically generated for me (note that I am on the Expression tab of the Field Mapping settings):

Yes the fld_Zone should be D from the copy. In the template if I change that value it always puts the template value in it. For instance I used A as a template then copy and pasted multiple features they were all A, I then changed the template to AE, which is what is in the gif and it pasted it and the values were AE.

UPDATE: I can reproduce the issue now. It's related to pasting values into a layer that contains a subtype field. The subtype is assigned a value from the first template for the target layer instead of the copied value from the source layer. A workaround that you can try to use is to copy and paste into a template instead of a layer:

Thank you for looking into this. While it is a work around as long as you are only copying one type of feature, but if you are coping multiple features, it does not work. Especially when the values of multiple fields are important. I appreciate the prompt reply though! Thank you. I will be patiently waiting for the next release. Have a great day!

No problem. Thanks for reporting it. Regarding the workaround: I'm not seeing where attributes of multiple features are lost when pasting into a template. In the GIF below, I'm pasting multiple selected features from 3 different layers into a template. The subtype is correctly assigned (based on the chosen template) and a different field (driving the labels) maintains the original attributes.

This has been happening with all my larger WFs that take a long time to run. It seems like when I copy a comment or connector in a WF and paste it into the same WF Alteryx seems like it is validating the entire WF before pasting and it appears like Alteryx is actually crashing(Not Responding). This obviously happens when I also try copying from a different WF and pasting it into the larger WF.

@PanPP and @Luke_C I checked the box for 'Disable Auto Configure' and restarted Designer to test but it seems to be doing the same thing, (Not Responding). I also added the below to the original post.

@PanPP sorry, I don't quite understand. I am able to right click and cache and run the workflow on other connectors if that is what you are asking. When I just tried again before my last reply I was just copying a comment box from a different workflow into the one that takes a while to run. It is still locked up.

@BonusCup I would right-click some of the inputs that you have in the workflow and cache and run the workflow so that metadata gets cached. I would recommend doing this for many of the tools that are already set and don't need to be run.

@PanPP I will try the first part of your reply but as for testing this after duplicating the workflow, I closed and restarted Designer, opened the workflow, duplicated it, copied a Comment from the original WF and when I pasted it into the duplicate Designer locked up again.

@PanPP sorry for the delay but I was pulled into some other things. I finally had some time to test this and after right-clicking and caching and running the WF I'm still having the same issue with Alteryx (Not Responding) after copying and pasting.

Cool symbols are symbols used to create a specific mood or style in design and art. They are often used in visual arts, graphic design and social media to add personality and emotion to a design or message. Cool symbols can include text faces and other symbols used to create a specific look or feel. Some examples of Cool symbols include hearts, stars, flowers, and other decorative elements. Cool symbols can be used in a variety of contexts, including social media posts, website designs, and artwork. They are often used to create a cohesive theme or style within a design.

You can also create Cool faces using ASCII art, which is a technique for creating images using only ASCII characters (letters, numbers, and symbols). ASCII art can be used to create a wide variety of images, including text faces and other symbols. To create ASCII art, you can use a text editor or an ASCII art generator tool to design your image using a grid of ASCII characters. You can then copy and paste the resulting text into your message or post. Keep in mind that the appearance and support of Cool faces may vary depending on the device or application you are using. Some Cool faces may not be supported or may appear differently on different devices.
