I have not been a big fan of using local promotions. I always
countered that the people who live here are not my overnight market.
But beginning this year, I have begun some broad based local marketing
and I believe it has already paid off.
Although 65% of my traffic comes from 2 to 6 hours away - more than 6
out of 10 who actually travel to this region state the number one
reasons why they travel here is to visit family and friends. Using
that data, i developed my new marketing strategy.
My local marketing was geared 100% to those making referrals. My ads
were spunky and different. The number of local referrals has grown
noticeably and in this economy, that has been our saving grace and
made the difference this July.
