If you've had your driveway blocked on numerous occasions, you know that can be a hassle especially if you need to quickly get in or out of your garage.
After countless times of asking people to move their vehicles and/or calling
SFMTA Parking Enforcement (415.553.1200 ext. 1 than ext. 5) to have a vehicle ticketed or sometimes towed, I decided to have our driveway curbs painted red by the city to help deter drivers from blocking the driveway.
The entire process took about 3-4 months and cost $357.
The steps involved were the following:
2. Next download the
Application Form and mail the completed form along with $185 made payable to "SFMTA - Color Curb Program" to the Color Curb Program, 1 South Van Ness, 7th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103.
3. Once your application has been processed which includes an inspection from the city to confirm that your driveway curb can be painted (about 2 months), then you need to pay an additional $172 to SFMTA - Color Curb Program for the city to paint the driveway tips (about another 1-2 months).
It has only been about a couple of weeks now since our driveway curb has been painted and the verdict is still out on whether the cost was worth it. It has helped deter some from blocking our driveway as I don't call parking enforcement to have vehicles ticketed or towed as often.
