Hi Elias,
This has been a difficult part for me also.  I find that the braided fishing line slips very easily unless you use special knots that are designed for it.
First, I created my own pulley for the servo :  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:356317
The finger tips, I tie the fishing line around a small washer so they don't pull through.  I string it through to the pulley and tie it around the holes in the pulley.
Once the knots are tied, I use a little bit of krazy glue to help keep the knot from slipping.
Here's a page that shows some of knots that don't slip.
I found this seems to work pretty well, but.. I agree.. getting the tension correct is very difficult.
Hope it helps!

Also,  This is one of the knots I used.     (The Palomar knot)  It's super strong and works well with braided fishing line.

When connecting the alt servo pulley, I usually put the servo at about 30 degrees +/- and make sure it's completely tight at that setting..  assuming that over time the line will loosen up.. this gives it about 30 degrees of extra play...

So, when the finger is fully contracted, I connect it up while the servo is at 30 degrees, so if there's a little slack in the line, I can just rotate the servo to 0 degrees and it's still tight.

when connecting line for the finger fully extended,  I put the servo at about 150 degrees +/-  so, if there's a little extra slack, it can still rotate to 180 and be tight.

This method works  "ok" for me...  I would love to hear how other people do it.

Oh and btw I need advice on how you hook the fishing wire up to the robrings. Not at the fingertips :-)
So for example... at 0 ° I attached the flexed finger in rest position,...

Thank you, Kevin!

Hi guys

I'm really struggling with setting the fishing wire for the fingers (for almost a week now...)
I want to do it good so yeah, takes a while.

But I was wondering if anyone could tell me how they did it? or have some suggestions? Highly appreciated!

I'm using robrings at the moment.

Thanks in advance! Btw here is a picture of my arm :-)

Hi Elias,
Did you try through my tuto?
http://www.inmoov.fr/lining-and-tighting-the-tendons/
It's interesting indeed to see how others have done it.
Good explanations for your method, Kevin.

Thank you, already helped me out a lot.
But I'm using the simple servo bed (and this gives like a max rotation of 90°). Also I'm using my own code with a wireless control glove, those values are mapped between 0 and 90°.
I thought the fingers have a max movement of 90° servo rotation.
I also would love to hear how other people did it.

I built my left hand over the weekend, my right hand is the same only I hadn't taken any pictures. I am using the updated parts "alt_servo_pulley" and adding screws with washers to lock down the fishing line. It is pretty easy to readjust the lines as things change.

Hey Harland,

What type/specs/brand of fishing line did you use?  It looks amazing.
