Hi all
I have managed to convert some of the Inmoov STL's to "solids" suitable for use in Autodesk Inventor / Solid works
They are actually stitched composite meshes that act like solids in every way.

I did this mainly to be able to assemble and better understand the workings of Inmoov and to help a friend out overseas.
As great a tool as Sketch up is, assembly/ alignment of things is a painstaking frustrating process.

Quite happy to share the models if anybody is interested. Ive only done the neck so far ( as this was the one that was
giving most assembly confusion) and made an animation. I've given the parts unique colors in an attempt to help differentiate / identify
the parts

Cheers

Thanks Amby, im sure you appreciate how much work goes into these things.

How are you getting on with the other STL's i believe you are trying to convert into "solids" ??

Cheers

Nice Work! We need more of this.
I personaly wouldn't use the "TemporaryV1" part, as it was for impatient builders during the time the skull was still under design.
"TemporaryV1"  is actually replaced by the parts called "LowBackV2".
I have just deleted "TemporaryV1" from Cubehero repo.

Thanks Gael , i will continue with the rest of the head mechanics and the skull and post the video when done.

I'm curious, what did you use to make the animation?

Wil

Hi Wil
The animation was done in Autodesk Inventor 2010 Pro, my solid modeling software. Its not exactly the best renderer in the world but more than meets my needs.

Hi Gael
Thanks for the youtube comment and yes of course you can use it. Its my small contribution back to the project.

If you want the avi file ( rather than the youtube version) here's a link to download it from my skydrive account. Its 1024 X 768 res at 30 frames a second.
Big file at 320 mb  >>http://sdrv.ms/1d4ZglE

Cheers

Hi !
I have just uploaded the forearm parts as solid CAD on my blog here for those who might be interested :

http://www.reppersdelight.spacymen.com/index.php/pages/InMoov-CAD-data

These parts are not the result of an automatic conversion process. They are the result of a complete retro-conception from the original STL parts. They've been designed accurately and no more parts are overlaping.

STEP and IGES available.
More to come…

I believe you need to download the .STL files (which I believe is the only open source files available) and convert or import them into CAD.
