Calibrator horizontal expansion not correct for models

Hello everyone,

I am new to the InMoov project and I decided to start building it as a long-time project because I've always loved robotic, programming and 3D printing.

First of all I want to thank Gael for his wonderful work, love it!

I decided to start with the eye mechanism because I already have some SG92R servos, so I decided to calibrate my Ender 3 V2 with Cura Slicer and I got the calibrator fit perfectly with -0.10 horizontal expansion.

I then started to follow the Eye Mechanism tutorial and printed the EyeBallFullV2, but I noticed that when mounting the pieces, there is a (0.5mm) gap between them. So I tried to re-print them with the default horizontal expansion of 0.00mm and they fit perfectly.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you guys have some ideas or suggestions?

Hello Luca,

For my robot I made different printing set-ups (maybe 10) because most of the time I printed the parts at 30% plastic infill and sometimes I also printed at 100% (for the Worm Shafts and gears in particular (and without support). But sometimes we have to use supports or raft so I also created a model 30% infill with supports with and without raft. So do not hesitate to make different set-up and use them according to the parts printed on your printer bed. The expansion -0.1mm is more used for parts with lock and key like the parts for Torso.

Hello Stephan,
thanks for the quick reply.

After some other printing attempts with different settings it turned out that I needed to calibrate also the holes horizontal expansion in Cura, after that the calibrator and the eye balls fits perfectly! Along the way I will find myself creating different print profiles for the various parts of the robot, I will keep in mind your suggestion, thank you very much.
