Hello all,
New builder here so I would like to share this tutorial. I've notice looking at pictures of inmoov that some peoples look like a mess and some can print these things great. I am in the 'mess' group and it really distracts from the elegant design to see gaps everywhere. Here is how I glued together and finished my beautiful chest to ensure all the guys were looking at it. errr, well you get it.

Needed:
-CA glue for PLA
-Automotive glazing putty body filler
-Spray can of sandable or gap filling primer
-Spray can of white paint
-Spray can of clear coat
=150. 250 and 1000 grit sandpaper

Note on sanding - It can be messy . I found that sanding under running water in the sink works great to clear out the grit and provides a smooth surface.

So here is where I started.

Next I removed and glued together all of the chest pieces.

Here's a closeup of the gaps. I filled them with slivers of filler I printed up.

Next I did a little sanding and primered it.

Fill in the gaps with the glazing putty. It dries pretty quickly. Sand to shape until the surface starts to blend.

Primer once again. The flaws will really only show up once it is primered so don't be afraid to go in and start adding more glazing putty.

Once you are happy. Put on a final primer coat and fine sand with the 1000 grit sandpaper.

Now you are ready to paint with the color of your choice. I chose white. Let dry and apply a coat of clear to bring a shine out. This picture is pre-clear coating.

That's pretty much it. Not too hard.

Very good!
Thanks for the tutorial and the technique.
I really like the effect on this picture bellow, it could look nice to have an InMoov that looks totally in a rebuilt session.

Thanks Gael,
I noticed the same thing as you and even mentioned it to my girlfriend. Along the way the part took on a look of patina and extreme wear. I wonder what an inmoov would look like if someone that was a really good artist took an airbrush to it.

Nice work looks great. What is "CA" glue?

CA stands for cyanoacrylate. It's a fancy name for super glue. I used loctite here. Any hobby grade super glue works great. You can also get an accelerator spray that hardens the glue instantly.

Here's what things look like put back together. I'm a little bit into the treatment of the face. Printed as much as I could in big pieces. I don't like seams. Holes in forehead will be gone. Head looks good just sanded not really painted. I'll print some pegs for the holes and sand them flush.

Sanding sucks in general but I'm doing it. At least when I am sanding I am not spending money.

Finally back to building my InMoov, I am going to try using an ABS 3D printing pen to fill the gaps when I get to that point. Still researching what 3D Pen to purchase.

That's an interesting idea. The pen I have doesn't really have the extruding pressure to fill into voids but you may have a better one. ABS will be easier to sand and post process as well.
