Paris - TotalEnergies and Stellantis announce the renewal of their partnership for the next five years for the Peugeot, Citroën and DS Automobiles brands. The two Groups are also opening a new chapter with its expansion to include Opel and Vauxhall. These global cooperation agreements now cover five core areas:

Delta II was General Motors' global compact car platform, developed by Opel in Germany. It was the successor to the GM Delta platform. Internally it is simply known as a new Global Compact Vehicle Architecture or GCV.

General Motors introduced its new global platform named D2XX flexible platform in August 2012. The new platform was mainly engineered by GM's former German subsidiary Opel in Rüsselsheim.[7] According to GM the company invested US$220 million for the all new D2XX platform.[citation needed]

For the supply chain, stability has come from projects related to each facet of the organisations to which logistics belongs and its related departments. Regionally, for example, Graffe and his logistics department report to Kathy Worthen, vice-president of global purchasing and supply chain (GPSC) for GM Europe. Within GPSC in Europe, which includes purchasing, logistics, supply chain operations and production scheduling, among other functions, the carmaker has made particular strides in improving cross-functional teamwork. That has included efforts to make production schedules more accurate and reliable, and sharing that information with suppliers and with logistics providers.

General Motors Powertrain has developed a new six-speed FWD family of automatic transmissions for compact and midsize vehicles. These are also used for the European market, as they are put into the new Opel Astra since October 2009. Due to its compact shape, high quality and good value-for-money level, this transmission can be integrated in all vehicle platforms and is thus suitable for global markets. As compared to the four- and five-speed transmissions which it replaces, the new six-speed transmission excels by its improved fuel economy as well as its improved performance.

It's now left up to PSA to see if Peugeot can leverage its new German brand for global growth that reduces its reliance on Europe. It might even challenge the ailing Volkswagen Group, which has the most market share in Europe. Maybe Opel can finally establish itself globally as a German prestige brand, a dream that eluded it under GM.

Although the global auto industry conditions have changed a lot, and the car makers are focusing more on profits than volumes, the reality is quite dramatic. All of the groups that currently form Stellantis have seen their global volumes dropped. This trend confirms the impact of many mergers: to become more competitive by cutting costs, and in many cases, selling fewer cars as a consequence of potential canibalization.

The facility is integrated in the global development system of GM Global Propulsion Systems. The output can be optimally evaluated and implemented thanks to the internationally standardized testing procedures and software.

The successor of the Antara, which we will bring to market in 2014-2015, will be based on our global compact architecture for the first time. The responsibility for this lies in our technical development center in Ruesselsheim. Thus we will insure that the Antara successor will be a very true Opel.

In full-year 2020, global sales of the PSA Group (Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel / Vauxhall) were 28% lower worldwide with Peugeot brand performing the best with sales down by 23%. Citroen sales were 28% lower than in 2019 while Opel sales were 35% lower worldwide. Peugeot gained market share in some markets.

GM and PSA five years ago announced a 10-year alliance that aimed to save $2 billion annually by 2017. The companies were to share vehicle platforms, components, modules, and research and development efforts, plus create a global joint venture to buy goods and services from suppliers to save money.

Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. has held the global auto crown for the past four years, although it fell behind GM in 2011, when production was hit by an earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan.

Toyota's global sales last year were slightly better than in 2015, up 0.2 percent, but not good enough to beat Volkswagen, which has the Audi, Porsche and Skoda brands, and boosted its global sales 3.8 percent from the year before. GM, which makes the Chevrolet, Cadillac and Opel brands, sold 9.8 million vehicles globally in 2015. To reach 10.3 million, sales would have to rise 5 percent, a difficult task since U.S. sales dropped 1.3 percent due mainly to a deliberate cut in deliveries to rental car companies.
