Laadla is a 1994 Hindi drama film starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Raveena Tandon. The film was directed by Raj Kanwar and written by Anees Bazmee. The film was a remake of the Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu (1986). The film was a superhit at the box office and received positive reviews from critics. Sridevi's performance as the headstrong factory owner Sheetal was widely praised and earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. The film also featured Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Aruna Irani and Paresh Rawal in supporting roles.
The film tells the story of Raju (Anil Kapoor), a mechanic who lives with his disabled mother Gayatri (Farida Jalal). He saves the life of a rich textile mill owner Laxminarayan Jetley (Anupam Kher) who offers him a job in his factory run by his ambitious daughter Sheetal (Sridevi). Sheetal and Raju clash over the treatment of workers and Raju becomes the union leader. Raju falls in love with Kajal (Raveena Tandon), a modest worker in the mill. Sheetal tries to win over Raju by forcing him to marry her, but he refuses to leave his mother and Kajal. Sheetal faces several enemies in her industry who try to eliminate her. Raju saves her life again and they eventually fall in love.
