Respected Nepali Youth their respected parents, community members and Friends of Nepal in NASeA/ANMA  region and beyond,
Greetings from joint convention 2017!

As you all are aware NASeA/ANMA joint convention has proudly announced her theme for 2017 - "Civic Engagement and Youth Empowerment of Nepalis in America”. Inline with this, we have invited and encouraged several activities and forum to dedicate towards our youth. Apart from various activities during the convention this  year Avideep (Avi) Pradhan, is leading a forum " eBlackboard" on Saturday, September 2nd 2017 at 1:30 PM and invites all youths, their respective parents and all participants to be a part of this event.

As most of you are probably aware Avi, a high-school student in Charlotte, NC is setting an example on how the youths of his generation could give back to Nepali community. He established computer labs  "eBlackboard" in two higher secondary schools in the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley during his trip to Nepal last year. He designed a computer network making use of low-cost computer cards - the size of a credit-card - that took very little power to operate. It is very encouraging to see a young talent from our own community trying to make a difference in the ways the students learn in Nepal.

With  little coordination help from his dad, Mr. Abin Pradhan, Avi  is partnering with Sangsangai and Rotary Club of Kathmandu West to establish computer labs in four schools in Lamjung and Nuwakot districts. He has so far collected $2,540 of the required $6000 to achieve his goal for this year. For detail information please check eBlackboard website www.eblackboard.org for more information and Avi's email below. Let us all extend our token of support: GoFundMe Donation Link: https://www.gofundme.com/computer-labs-for-schools-in-nepal

On behalf of joint convention 2017, we  request all our youths, their beloved parents and community members and friends of Nepal to join this special forum moderated by Avi and learn more about his project and together let us encourage all our youth to  bring their success story and share with others and reinforce our commitment of youth empowerment and make a difference in the lives of young minds here in USA and back in our motherland.

With this note, we kindly request all our Nepali organizations Presidents, Community leaders and well-wishers to spread the news in your respective region and encourage all to register online and be the part of this historical event: http://jointconvention.org/registration/

With Respect,

Rajesh Singh, Convention Chair

Bimal Nepal, NASeA President

Bala Ghimire, ANMA President

Avideep's email on Youth Empowerment

Namaste,

My name is Avideep Pradhan, currently a rising junior at Ardrey Kell High School here in Charlotte, NC. I am the project leader of the non-profit organization eBlackboard. Ever since I started school, I have always valued education and its importance in the sturdy development of the youth. Some students, although not so appreciative, are very fortunate to be able to easily go to school and obtain a free education to have a successful future. Unfortunately, this is not true for a majority of students in the world, especially in developing countries like Nepal. The poor infrastructure slows the development of a strong education system; this causes very few students, especially in rural regions, to get the proper education they need. It’s not fair that some children can get a proper education while others can’t, which is why I started eBlackboard.

As you know, we are all living in an era of technological advancements, greatly impacting not only how we live, but also how we learn. Schools are getting filled with computers, tablets, “smart boards”, and have the whole world wide web of knowledge in there fingertips. The goal of eBlackboard is to empower underprivileged student with this technology, drastically improving their learning experience. Through the use of low cost and power efficient computer “cards”, we can provide these student with the basic Personal Computer that has all the basic Office and Programming applications along with an entire pre-installed library of math, science, and English e-learning modules.

This application, ePaath, allows student to access many interactive lessons for their specific grade level, even without the presence of internet! We have already implemented a computer lab in two schools within the rural areas of Kathmandu. With these computer labs, we were able to provide thousands of students with new doors of opportunities and a brighter future! We are currently about to implement these labs into two more schools in Nepal as well as India. Please feel free to check out my website www.eblackboard.org for more information. We all are together in this mission. As impactful as my project is, it's nothing compared to the impact we can have if we all work together!! What I have done is just an example of the impact you can have, even as a high schooler. We all have the ability and power to improve the lives of others. We just need to push ourselves past the boundaries of dedication, effort, and work; then anything is possible! This convention is a great opportunity for us youths to show what we can do and the power we have to make a change in the world.

Thank You,
Avideep Pradhan
