15 days until STOP BUILD day!

On Feb 21st, by Midnight, your robot must be bagged and tagged and you don't get to see it again until your competition (Rule R18 in the competition manual). Be sure to fill out the Robot Lockup form at the time the robot is bagged and bring that form with you to your competition.

Robokong has been busy manufacturing parts last week. We have 342 parts to manufacture for our two robots and most of them are done! Big thanks to our sponsors BK Customs for water jetting our polycarb parts and Vocademy for access to their Laser cutter, mill, lathe, and band saw.

We started assembling our robots and the first drive base is nearly done.

BTW, we have built 2 robots for the last four years. On stop build day, one is bagged and stays there until the competition. The second robot is used to continue programming and driver practice. This is a huge advantage for teams that can handle the budget (time and money) to build a second robot. There are also short cuts to get some benefits of a second robot.. just build a drive base, hold back your electronics (motor controllers, robo rio, pdb) as they can be used on your practice bot. If you have questions, give me a shout!

How is your team going? Please share your experience with others on this list.

Thank you Richard for your advice on the 2nd robot, that will save our team a lot of money. Also I would like to give you a big thank you from team 6668 for your help with programming your advise was a big help.

Team 6668 spend the weekend training and working in the machine shop we have most of our parts done ready for assembly, I am looking forward to see Richards teams 342 parts very impressive. This year my plan for the team is to keep it simple, my hopes are that simple is better for our first year and with a relativity new team I don't want the team to get over there heads.

Good luck to all of you with the last 15 days

Hi Richard, we're moving along very well. We have started assembly of our parts.  Drive base mostly complete. Slight delay caused by shipping lateness. Anyway, the plan this season is to ensure that every part on the robot is lovingly crafted and built to survive the rigors of competition. We're using pneumatics for the first time and also 2 speed gearboxes.  Hopefully were not introducing too many new variables.  We plan to be drivable by this week so we can fine tune the c++ coding for the manipulators etc.

Thanks for checking in,
