This Sivasthalam Situated in Krishnagiri District can be reached 22 kms from Hosur. Enroute Osur - Krishnagiri NH for 7 kms , Take left and travel for 15 kms to reach the temple.

Indra with his elephant (Airawatham) worshipped Lord Shiva here to get rid of his curse as a result of killing a demon named Vrithasuran on the banks of Agasthiya River ( which is still flowing on back(2 kms far) of the temple) hence the name Airawatheswarar .
