This Sivasthalam is Situated 2 kms from Akkoor which is in Sirkazhi-Nagapattinam Highway. There lies a village named Poonthazhai 1km From Akkoor (three divider road) . The temple is exactly 1 km from Poonthazhai. This temple can be reached from Mayiladuthurai-tharangampadi as well. It's 3 kms from Thirukadaiyur and 8kms from Poompugar. Anywhere you start from, one has to reach Aakur Three divider road to reach the temple.
Main Deity : Sivalokanathar
Goddess : SivagamaSundari
Darshan time : 6 am – 12pm ,4pm – 9pm
Sthalam : "magudi" - Mamakudi
During churning of ocean by Demons and Devars in search of Amrith (which was done at Thirukadaiyur), Many things came out of that Action. conch- Sangu came out first and the place was named as "Thalachankadu" .Like Wise Goddesses LakshmiDevi came out and the place was named as Magudi . Ma - Means Lakshmi and Kudi means birth place ,hence the name Magudi which Later became Mamakudi
