Documentas you go: The AQuA format relied heavily on capturing results throughout the event in a wiki. With such a short-lived period of collaboration and development, longevity of results was a huge concern for us when we were planning AQuA. As a consequence we hounded the participants to record their work as they proceeded. Despite our worries, our very game hackers and mashers embraced the concept and in fact some commented that they liked the approach in post event feedback. Having some basic structure in place and wiki proformas ready to go, makes the process much easier. We of course learnt this on the second day of our first event.
Several of the none-technical participants appreciated a chance to learn about the technical challenges in a none-threatening environment. Its perhaps no coincidence that the winners of our mashup competition (voted for by the participants themselves) really broke down the barriers, with both techie and non-techie learning a lot from the process of working with each other.
Many of the techies appreciated being able to problem solve in an agile manner, and get iterative feedback and steer from the collection owners. One participant voiced a feeling of liberation at being able to consider a problem and write a solution for it in 3 days without the need for any project planning or other institutional bureaucracy.
Get people outside of their comfort zone: Where possible we encouraged the techies to work on problems that were a little outside their usual range of experience, and as a result we saw quite a bit of benefit from fresh approaches being brought to familiar problems. There were exceptions however, where we wanted to really exploit the experience and skills of particular attendees. A mix seemed to work well.
Refrigerate it! It will deflate over time and go almost back to liquid, but by simply re-whipping it again later (3 and 4 times even!) it will whip back up to perfectly beautiful, stiff, glossy meringue just like it was the first time.
I also mentioned that I have been doing this for my Swiss Aquafaba Meringue Buttercream for added stabilization to the recipe, again it works like a charm!
5.0 from 2 reviews Aquafaba Meringue HacK Print Prep time 25 mins Bake time 5 mins Total time 30 mins Serves: 6 cups Ingredients 1 cup liquid aquafaba 1 teaspoon powdered agar Cream of Tartar teaspoon Instructions Prepare the stabilized aquafaba by heating it over low heat with the agar powder and bring it to a boil. Cool to tepid (not cold or the agar will thicken the liquid before we can whip it) Whip with a stand mixer with the balloon whip attachment to frothy and then add the cream of tartar. Continue whipping to thick glossy peaks (total time should be about 10 minutes) Use the whipped AF as needed in your recipes Notes Refrigerate any un used meringue in a clean airtight container for up to 6 days 3.5.3251
Gretchen, I was excited to find this hack. Made your Coconut Cream Pie and was making the Aquafaba Meringue but am missing when you sweeten it. I will wing it for now but let us know at what point to add some sugar.
Hi Gretchen,
So if i was trying to incorporate agar into your swiss meringue buttercream, would i follow the recipe you have that says to reduce the aquafaba then let it cool completely before whipping? Or would i reduce it, add the agar and boil for a few secs as per this video, and then whip it while its still warm? Would that not mess up the swiss meringue recipe since its not cold when whopping? Thanks ?
Hi Gretchen, if I use say canellini bean af will I be able to follow the recipe and quantities as above, also will I be able to re-whip it if deflates overnight? Very interested in this thank you for tips.
Hi Gretchen,
I would like to use a plain sweetened AF meringue to decorate culcakes, ie AF, sugar, agar, cream of tartar.
Will it stay stable over time? Will it dry or change color?
Also, could I add matcha powder to flavor it?
Thank you
Authorities have arrested an individual who is allegedly part of The Chuckling Squad, a hacker group that in August compromised the Twitter account of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, according to law enforcement and criminal sources. The group also claimed responsibility for hacks of other celebrities, including actress Chlo Grace Moretz.
The alleged member was arrested around two weeks ago, one of the leaders of The Chuckling Squad, who goes by the handle Debug, told Motherboard. Motherboard is not naming the individual because they are a minor.
"He was a member of Chuckling Squad but not anymore. He was an active member for us by providing celebs/public figure [phone] numbers and helped us hack them," Debug said. Debug said the group kicked out the member in October.
When Chuckling Squad hacked Dorsey's account, the group posted a series of bomb threats and racist messages, and retweeted anti-semitic material. The hack relied on a technique called SIM-swapping, where hackers, either in person at a store or on the phone, will trick a wireless provider like T-Mobile or Verizon into giving control of a phone number. From here, hackers can receive two-factor authentication SMS codes, or in the case of Dorsey, post tweets via Twitter's now-defunct text-to-tweet functionality.
In that hack, the individual obtained Dorsey's phone number, Debug said. The rest of the hack was completed by themselves and other Chuckling Squad leaders known as Aqua and NuBLoM, Debug said. The individual told Motherboard they had been arrested, but denied involvement in the Dorsey hack.
Over the past year, law enforcement agencies have ramped up their arrests of SIM-swappers, as the attacks have been used to carry out SWATing threats, the theft of cryptocurrency, and the illegal hacking of accounts themselves. REACT, a task force of multiple police forces in California, has been particularly focused on SIM-swapping.
Debug claimed the individual was responsible for a number of other attacks, including one on Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Erin West. Debug provided a screenshot of a text message they say the person sent to West, which included the hashtag "#FreeJoelOrtiz," a reference to a SIM-swapper that West convicted. Ortiz accepted a plea deal of 10 years in prison after stealing more than $5 million worth of cryptocurrency.

One of the fundamental goals of this approach is to bring out a stronger mocha character, and that is born out here in this non age-statemented product. While the nose of Aqua Ignis exudes some youth in the form of a sharper, clean linen note, it is indeed laden with chocolate and coffee notes right from the start. Those are amplified on the palate, which is richly fruited with spiced raisin and plum notes, the classic trappings of Cognac, segueing from there into a rich and nutty milk chocolate character. Notes of rich almond nougat, more baking spice, and a gentle warmth arrive on the finish.
