College Access Workshop- Sponsored by MIRA and SIM (Student Immigrant
Movement)
Many immigrant students believe that they cannot go to college because of
the barriers presented by their immigration status. Teachers and counselors
often find few resources for these students. While college access for
immigrants is never easy, there ARE ways to make it possible. We can better
advocate for immigrant students by encouraging them to pursue their college
goals and by connecting them to organizations working to change the laws and
polices currently blocking their educational future.
-Hear from immigrant students who are making it at college
-Information about scholarships, loans and financial aid
-Find out about proposed changes in immigration law and ask questions about
immigration
