Dear readers,

First of all, let me invite you to visit and bookmark the revamped The Indian National Interest website (http://www.nationalinterest.in). On this site you will find the latest posts from our bloggers, recommended blog posts, articles and videos from elsewhere. That's not all, you can also suggest links to articles on the web (and YouTube videos) that you'd like to share with the rest of the reader community. It's ready, but as with these things, is also a work in progress. And yes, tell your friends about us.

In this month's issue of Pragati, we ask India's leading foreign policy analysts on the challenges and priorities for the second UPA government. We study the possible implications of geoeconomic changes on the relationship between India and China. You'll find perspectives on cyber war readiness, a review of a book on the nuclear arms race and the need for a different approach towards security force deployments in Jammu & Kashmir.

On the domestic front: we argue that the failed reservations policy must make way for economic freedom; analyse the Left Front's troubles in Lalgarh, West Bengal; and explain why allegations of vote-rigging on electronic voting machines are misguided.

And finally, in the neighbourhood: why India has become, yet again, unpopular in Nepal; and why the Taliban could be defeated by...turning them into a laughingstock.

From this issue, we are making all articles available on our website.  Read and Share!

best regards

The Pragati Team
