Dear Reader
From May 2010, Pragati - The Indian National Interest Review will be published by The Takshashila Institution (a public charitable trust), an independent think tank on India's strategic affairs (http://takshashila.org.in). The intention behind this move is to provide a stronger institutional basis for the magazine: it will continue to feature the distinctive "Fresh, Bold, Indian" writing that you appreciate.
Today even the phrase "second generation of reforms" has fallen into disuse. The policy discourse has once again reverted into one over state-directed redistribution that once plunged India into mediocrity and despair and risks doing so again. The cover feature of this month's issue argues that India needs a new freedom struggle to deliver economic and social freedom to all its citizens.
