I added a section on English in Sri Lanka to this article, but found
that it was to be merged with another one
(http://si.wikipedia.org/wiki/ඉංග්‍රීසි_භාෂාව). I have no idea how
this is done, but I added my section to that article too.

The necessary changes seem to have been made. When you now type the
former URL, you are given the option to choose either "ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂව"
or "ඉංග්‍රීසි ජාතිය".

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉංග්‍රීසි පසුබිම actually should be a separate article,
but at the current point, better to have it here. :-)
We'll try to improve it more.

As the introduction of the English language on this page seemed
incomplete, mentioning, for example, the Viking influence on English
but not the Norman impact, I have tried to improve a bit it by adding
some information translated from the English version.

Yes, I saw it. That's great.
Hope we together can develop Sinhala wiki articles about English. It will be a helping hand for our community.

If you have time to do this, just go ahead. I'll handle stuff related to wikipedia format and policies (wikification, citation, spelling & grammar, subsections and etc.)

I made some tweaks on the page so that it looks better and hope that
it would appeal to you guys. As the English Wikipedia page on Sri
Lankan English was rather messy, I also tried to put some order into
it and made some minor additions to it too. Please have a look

OK. It's done. Right now I'm working on a sub-section that deals with
the pronunciation differences between Sri Lankan and International
English. But it'll take some time to finish because I've got to write
it from scratch.

The sub-section on Sri Lankan pronunciation patterns of English was
added to both
'http://si.wikipedia.org/wiki/ඉංග්‍රීසි_භාෂාව'
and
'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lankan_English'
adapting my most recent post on Ingirisi
(http://ingirisi.blogspot.com/2010/05/water-or-voter.html).

The English version could also be hyperlinked to the relevant
Wikipedia pages for the various sounds involved, as they were
available in the English Wiki. I hope it wiil be useful to whose
interested in phonology.

Good idea. You can move Chapters 2, 3 and 4 into that new article and
interwiki-link it with the English one. I think you would also place
on the current page a 'See also' link to the new one.

Thank you both for all the work done on this. I always felt Sujeewa's work deserve a better place other than our blog-space.
That Sri Lankan - International differences in the usage is very nice.

It's fantastic, thanks. I was surprised to find, in the interwiki
links, that there's an article (short though it is) about Sri Lankan
English in Swedish! Who would have thought?

Some changes and additions were made in both
http://si.wikipedia.org/wiki/ශ්‍රී_ලංකාවේ_ඉංග්‍රීසි_භාෂාව
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lankan_English
to put the articles in better shape.

In the latter one, I don't want to delete anything written by anybody
else (one item about 'stay' and 'live' was deleted as the matter was
better explained further down in the same section.) but I took the
liberty of ordering them in what I think is a better manner.

I'll try to add more to both articles sometime later.
