PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARKLAND INTERFACE
This is a formal notification of a 24-mile long, 2,000-foot high biking AND 3-mile long walking inspection of selected accessible private parks and inaccessible public parks in collaboration with Canary Test (
@canarytest) and Esper Postma (
@esperpostma), whose exhibition “Supernovel” opens at Canary Test on December 1. The purpose of this inspection is to explore the classism of accessibility to urban green spaces in Los Angeles. Please plan accordingly as there will be privatization of public spaces by homeowners associations along the way. Helmet, bushwhacking attire, and picnic basket all highly recommended.
Be aware that the estimated start time from LAFD Station 99 is for the walking portion of the inspection and is posted for those who cannot commit to the biking portion. Parking is available to the west on Coy Drive or to the east on Mulholland Drive as there are no feasible public transportation options available to this location. Those driving to this location should make sure to communicate with our Instagram account the day of the inspection since the 12:00 PM walking start time will be subject to change per the speed of the biking volunteer inspectors. Multiple high-security bike locks at a pole in public view will be available at the start of the walking portion so that carrying a bike lock is not required for those coming from the biking portion of the inspection.
