I'm at a PayPal conference in SF today. One of the guests on stage was a Financial Times exec. She said they have 89,000 digital subscribers out of 2.8 million registered users online. Today, one-third of of their online revenue comes from content sales.In a few months, they're going to introduce a PayPal driven features that allows people to send a full story to a friend for a small fee."When it comes to news, it’s clear that advertising alone won't cut it," the FT exec said. "But it’s clear that people are willing to pay for the right content when it’s properly priced."

Also, they demo'd a GigaOm PayPal feature that asks people to click on their exclusive reports (GigaOm Pro) and pay 49 cents to read them.
