Membership Drive 2009
Indian Network of Federations of Microfinance Self-Help Groups (INFOS)
is a national network of SHGs federations. The network aims at sharing
a common mission of contributing towards growth of the member
federations through capacity building and policy advocacy initiatives,
facilitating co-learning and through inculcating self-regulation.
INFOS was incorporated in June 2006 and has come to gain an dentity
among the SHG federations in the country and position itself as a
strong and vibrant network. INFOS has a membership of 40 SHG
Federations now and has wider geographical representation across the
country. The Network has initiated capacity building programmes
through events such as policy workshops, regional conventions,
national seminars, exchange visits, governance trainings for leaders,
newsletters and established four Regional chapters for decentralising
the network activities and programmes.
INFOS Network is currently on a membership drive for 2008. We are
seeking SHG federations promoted by women Self Help Groups consisting
poor members to support their functions with the objective of poverty
reduction and having microfinance as a programme to address poverty.
INFOS has two types of membership – primary and associate membership.
Membership is only by invitation. Further details about each type of
membership are available on our website.
Membership Services
Membership within INFOS provides a variety of services to build and
equip the knowledge and capacities of the member federations in order
to strengthen their overall effectiveness and to sustain the
federation for longer run.
Benefits of membership are varied and may include
- Participation in national and regional programmes and activities of
INFOS
- Access to training, exposure visits and technical assistance
- Professional services to members
- Dissemination of knowledge and information through Newsletters,
publications and website
Benefits of membership will continue to grow as the network grows and
develops further.
