Assalamualaikum Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aziah Binti Ismail,

I am writing to inform you about an opportunity for your postgraduate students to participate in the Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP) 2024. This program by Osaka University ASEAN Campus, offers a unique educational experience that will benefit your students' academic and professional development.

Program Overview:

Name: Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP)

Duration: December 2024 - August 2025

Eligibility: USM postgraduate students with at least a bachelor’s degree.

Requirements: Participants must take Practical Study Abroad (PSA) courses and study at Osaka University for at least 60 days in one of the following terms:

- Spring Term: March 1 – May 1

- Summer Term: July 1 – August 31

Language Proficiency: High proficiency in English is recommended (TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS 6.0 or higher; Cambridge English CEFR B2 level or higher). Alternatively, students can submit a letter from their supervisor or USM English teacher verifying their language proficiency.

Academic Performance: A GPA of 2.3 on a 3.0 scale is generally required or a CGPA of 3.07 on a 4.0 scale

Programs Offered:

1. Halal Science, Technology and Innovation (HaSTI)

2. Advanced Industrial Biotechnology

3. Nanoscience and Nanotechnology as Manufacturing Core

4. Frontier Engineering Science: An Introduction through STEM-Centered Learning

5. Introduction to Computational Materials Design

6. Frontiers in Medical Physics and Medical Imaging

Selected students will receive the OU ASEAN Campus Scholarship, which includes a monthly stipend of 50,000 JPY for up to three months and reimbursement for a round-trip economy-class flight ticket.

Application Requirements:

- CV

- Academic transcript

- A 500-word statement of purpose explaining what connects the student to Japan and study-abroad, and what they hope to achieve in their exchange studies at Osaka University

- A 250 to 300-word career goal statement outlining personal, academic, and/or professional goals and how the exchange studies at Osaka University will relate to their future plans

We are seeking first-year PhD students and Master's students who have a strong intention to pursue a PhD. Kindly refer to the attached OUICP 2024 Application Guidelines for more specifics about each program.
