"I consider SOUND FORGE and Samplitude to be the ultimate couple for my music. I do the hard work in Samplitude, and finalise with SOUND FORGE Pro, which itself has greatly improved from its previous versions, allowing to work with multichannel audio, ARA2, and improved VST plug-in integration."

SOUND FORGE is a digital audio editing suite by MAGIX aimed at both professional and semi-professional users. It has been the audio editing standard software for artists, producers and sound mastering engineers for over 20 years. The SOUND FORGE family includes SOUND FORGE Audio Studio, Audio Cleaning Lab, as well as SOUND FORGE Pro and SOUND FORGE Pro Suite.

SOUND FORGE Audio Studio is a digital audio editing all-rounder. It's the perfect software for recording podcasts or audio books in high quality, cutting and editing audio files with professional restoration and mastering tools, and modifying them with a wide range of effects.

SOUND FORGE Pro Suite is a professional software package for recording, editing, sound design and mastering. The suite sets new standards for audio and contains a wide range of sophisticated plug-ins, such as the brand-new Steinberg SpectraLayers Pro 10 and Melodyne essential.

I bought Sound Forge 10 many years ago and used it on my previous computer as recently as about a month ago. I recently got a new computer with Windows 11 and can't install SF10 on it. I get passed all of the questions (I think) and then I get a message that says "Download failed. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again.". I am clearly connected to the internet. I have my antivirus, firewall, vpn and adblocker all turned off.

If temporarily disabling anti-virus apps does not work with Magix, you could try downloading SF-10 from the SCS (Sony) archive which has all the SCS SF versions, builds, ect..
I think the final version of SF Pro 10 (d) was build 507. If you need the iZotope's Direct X Mastering Suite II installer which was included with SFP-10, PM me. You will still need iZ's unique activation code though. The NR-2.0 noise reduction suite that as also incldued is in the archive as well if it is not installed it by default w/ SFP-10. You can also of the get a discount with your SF-10 serial if wish to upgrade to SF-15.

Hello, hopefully you can solve this mystery. When I upgraded to Sound Forge 16, I encountered a problem with files I was editing developing glitches in the audio(stuttering, repeating, warble). the audio plays fine when I run it thru windows audio player on my computer but when I put it into the sound forge, it makes the files I want to upgrade or clean up useless. Running windows 11 pro, with Geforce hd audio driver. Is there something I should do in the program to help prevent this? Again, I have no issues playing music with my windows media player, it's just when it loads into sound forge that the stutters and warble happen. I made a video showing what is happening. Thanks in advance for any help. Richard _sL-b8uGF8f1v8oHeqklt5k/view?usp=sharing

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Ybstatusquo,
What version of Sound Forge (Audio Studio or Pro) and build number of do you have? (see this info in the SF 'Help' menu> About). Also peruse Read the 'Sticky' at the head for the main Sound Forge forum page.
- Is the file(s) you are playing a PCM type (.wav) or a lossy type (MP3, AAC, ect).
- Are there any plug-in running (singularly or in the chainer)? SF Pro has a modal chainer and plug-ins could be running whilst not displayed in the timeline window
- Do you have an internal (soundcard) or external audio interface

RRaud, I'm running the latest sound forge pro 16.1 but had issues with it before. I'm generally using it for MP3 files and audio restoration of old concerts on cassette. I have an internal sound card as well as 8tb ssd and 32gb ram. I will try the suggestions you posted to see it that works. I just found it strange that my audio seems to work fine for everything except sound forge (using Acid 10 for mixes and it has no issues).

Hi @Ybstatusquo...i also noticed some skipping with mp3 files, that wasn't happening in versions 15 or 14, but happened in 16.1. turns out i had forgot to check the 'Always proxy compressed formats' in my Options > Preferences > General window...now all is fine...please check that, as @rraud pointed out, it should sort it out. thanks!

Hi I have just downloaded SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 17. Since doing so I cannot hear anything other than a fuzzy buzzing sound coming from laptop speakers. I have used this software in the past without issues. Please help.

Your description resembles the 'Magix 2016 Low Latency driver' issue, However, I do not recall that issue with AS-17 @Katie-Chaldecott-Gill. You can try removing the driver. See this comment from Magix:

I just upgraded to Sound Forge v16 Pro and it took away my "FX Favorites" from the pull-down menu where I could organize my everyday plugins to be featured at the top level BUT now I must go through all these various menus to find them along with no search feature? WTF were you guys thinking or am I missing something here?

hi Dom-Toulon....if you've used SF for 30 years, then surely you know about the Plug-in Manager. the organize favorites window is the exact same as the plugin manager window....only you can simply dock the plugin manager window and always be able to organize your plugins and plugin folders without having to even click on the toolbar.

I would upgrade to the latest version of SOUND FORGE Audio Studio if I was able to do so easily in the settings. I need to open and close my sound editor every day multiple times so the 2s of the VST scan make a huge difference. I don't mind that the VST scan takes place when I open the plugin manager or the favorites window in SF but if I only need to record an idea or trim and normalize a wave file I don't understand why I have to waste my time scanning changes in my VST's (some of them are regularly updated). Please give us that option! Unfortunately I can't afford to buy the Pro version only for this feature but I would be willing to pay 50-100eur easily for that option.

The VST scan can be disabled in the 'Internal' menu, but do not think it is easier than adding " /NOVSTGROVEL" to the shortcut's target path, which is as easy as copy/paste. A second shortcut could be also be created with the VST scan enabled.

I upgraded to Sound Forge Audio Suite 16 as I am also a Vegas Pro 19 user (having now cancelled my Adobe CC Cloud Subscription) I am have exactly the same issue with the compressor crashing. Is there any fix for this?

The Wizard comp crashes AS-16 on my PC as well. Use another compressor for now, there are four or five or so in SF Pro, most of which should be available in both SF Pro and SFAS.. if both installed on the same PC . Hundreds of other third-party comp/limiters are available.. free and otherwise. I like the vintage 1176 FET sound of the (legacy) Wave Hammer on music projects.

Originally published by Sonic Foundry before changing hands and becoming part of Sony's creative software division in 2003 which now belongs to Magix Software, Sound Forge is a true veteran in the world of digital audio software and a staple on many an audio engineer's workstation. Sound Forge, now in its 15th iteration, turns 30 this year. From its humble roots as an audio editor, it now caters for professional audio recording and mastering, sound design, audio restoration, CD authoring, podcast production and much more.

Special mention must be made of the tutorial system included with Sound Forge Pro 15. In addition to the manual, upon loading up the software for the first time you are greeted with an interactive tutorial system which provides a very visual walkthrough of all the components, menus and windows and will have you oriented in no time. It may sound trivial, but coming from another audio editor / DAW environment, it can often be frustrating figuring out how to accomplish often simple functions and this mitigated that issue elegantly.
