Subject: WE NEED YOU!

Dear fellow artists,

As you may or may not know, for five years Liz Thompson and Devlin Goldberg have been working together teaching performing arts and creating shows with public school kids in Williamsburg and Greenpoint.  Recently, due to budget cuts across the board, our arts program has been cut.  Because we have seen the positive impact the arts has had on this community over the years, we have been pursuing our own independent funding and support in order to keep this program alive. This summer we are launching Star Lab, starting with a five week performing arts intensive geared towards giving our students hands on experiences with professional artists.  This is where we are asking for the help and generosity of our creative community. We are looking for people to lead workshops in their area of expertise, allow students to sit in on a rehearsal, give a talk about what they do, give a tour of their theater/art space/studio/etc. We are open to any and all creative ideas that you may have. Our students range in age from 8-16 and are a fun and creative bunch.  Our goal is to show them what it means to have a career in the industry, expand their understanding of what our city has to offer artists as well as have fun.  We are currently in the process of creating a scholarship fund as the majority of our students are from low-income families. At the moment it is hard to say how much, if any money we will be able to offer guest artists.  What we can offer is the opportunity to have an immediate impact on a group of young people in our city who will be the artists of tomorrow.

If you are interested in being a part of Star Lab, please email us at starl...@gmail.com and tell us what you would like to offer.  Any and all participation will be greatly appreciated and mean the world to these children.

Please feel free to forward this onto anyone else that you think may be interested.

Thank you!

Liz Thompson & Devlin Goldberg

From the very talented Maha of Noor Theatre...

Thanks Maha:

I appreciate your help with us.  I'm just looking to fill one role.  Here is the description:

Seeking one Middle Eastern, male actor to fill the role of Aziz in THE MAN STANLEY,  a new play. Aziz is a Moroccan man, age 30s - 50s, who finds himself lost in a futuristic American society.  Good sense of comedy is necessary.

Synopsis
When Seth, an aimless, but generous and decent man, is identified by Marissa as being the Man Stanley, he dismisses her and assumes she’s a lunatic.  Until everyone he meets kneels at his feet and hangs on to his every word, joyous that the Man Stanley has finally come to redeem them.   The problem becomes a little hard to ignore.   THE MAN STANLEY is a comical exploration of the function of religion in contemporary society.

Preference will be given to actors residing in Philadelphia.  But actors who live in NYC are  encouraged to apply.  Please send email to kenka...@yahoo.com with a picture and resume.

Thanks so much!

Ken Kaissar
