at The Brick

Synopsis:
University students in war-torn Iran wrestle with Rumi, The Quran and The Book of Revelations as their families struggle
to survive. But when the air-raid sirens sing out, whose ethos will truly matter? A cultural, historical, religious, mythical
tour de force set during the time of the Iraq missile attacks on Iran, Three Eternal Days is a contemporary work by
Iranian playwright Mohammad Ebrahimian. Translated into English for the first time, the play is steeped in the
traditional Ta'ziyah and the devotions of Saint Reza.

Free rehearsal space is available at The Brick Theater during the following time spans:

January 31 - February 12
February 19 - March 23
February 28 - March 2
Saturday mornings in March
Tech rehearsal March 21 from 3pm to 11pm

Cast Breakdown:
6 primary parts (3 males, 3 females)
Two scenes require an additional chorus of 14 actors and actresses.
They are self-contained scenes that can be rehearsed separately from the scenes with the 6 primary characters.

This play is a Brick Festival Co-Production. This means that The Brick will present the play, staff the box office and
offer professional press representation. Under the Co-Production arrangement, The Brick pays the co-producing
company (or producing Director) an artist's fee equal to 50% of the gross box received. Ticket prices will be $15.
Online ticket sales and all cash sales at the door will be entered into Ovationtix by trained Brick Box Office Volunteers or
Staff (to be provided by The Brick at the start of each performance). Each show must provide its own light designer,
board operator and other technical personnel; referrals are available on request and must be paid by the company at
rates negotiated with the personnel. A Brick Technical Director or Staff Member will liaise with each company's
Technical/Creative Staff and be on hand to supervise the initial Tech Rehearsal.

Dear Friends,
Please SPREAD THE WORD that the JANE CHAMBERS CONTEST for FEMINIST PLAYWRITING is receiving Submissions for 2011 NOW, due by March 1, 2011. (We are offering a two-week grace period, from February 15, for the main contest, so that both the Main and Student deadlines are now March 1, 2011!) Current Guidelines, including application forms, are posted on the website: <http://www.athe.org/wtp/html/chambers.html>. To be clear, Main division entries go to Maya Roth, Student division entries to Nancy Lynch. Spread the Word!

First given in 1984, the JANE CHAMBERS AWARD recognizes feminist plays & performance texts created by women writers that present significant opportunities for female performers. Given in memory of playwright Jane Chambers, the Contest welcomes experimentations in form and subject matter. Feminism is understood to cross an array of class, sex, race, national, ethnic, theatrical, and/or geographic perspectives. The annual Winner receives $500 & a rehearsed reading of the play at ATHE’s annual conference. The winning student play is presented at the WTP conference.

The 2010 Jane Chambers WINNER was MARTHA JANE KAUFMAN for A LIVE DRESS. This magical play about the Yiddish theater, set in 1925 New York, queers coming of age as it takes seriously the pull of the spirit world across time and place. The play, developed at the Huntington Theatre, received its WTP reading at ATHE in Los Angeles in August 2010. Hear a clip with the playwright about A LIVE DRESS < :http://www.youtube.com/user/athecomm#p/u/11/PztiqBN1BxI.> The Runner-Up was QUEENS FOR A YEAR by T.D. Mitchell, a taut play about five generations of female Marines interwoven with a retelling of the Caeneus/Caenis myth. Honorable Mentions included DOCTORING by Nastaran Ahmadi, a queer urban love story for the digital age and POKE HER by Lisa O’Hara, a whimsical ensemble play that travels a modernist roller coaster of feminist awakening. The 2010 Student Winner was LIZA CASE for THE UNSPOKEN ONES. All past winners are posted on the website in addition to archives of top honorees for the past five years; these feminist plays suit a diversity of venues, cast sizes, and concern: Produce Plays by Talented Women Writers! <http://www.athe.org/wtp/html/chambers.html>

Thanks to Spread the Word, All!
