Right now we can see a leaderboard of contributors, and we can see "My Notices" in the profile section, with notices on our own personal bitts, comments, and contributions.

What if, to expand on both those concepts, there was a way to see a timeline with a visual representation of how "busy" one may have been on the site in the past week, month, year, etc? One possibility could be a graph of some sort with time on one axis and either points or activity measured on the other, and possibly the graph line changes color if it reaches a point where you made it on the leaderboard, and changes back to the original color if your activity dipped below leaderboard "status." This could be a private statistical representation of one's activity on the site, or a public one, included in your profile that others could see.

As the site grows, it could be a nice way to motivate people to contribute and be active.

This is a really good idea. Wish we had time & coders to execute it tomorrow! As you know, our feature set is pretty basic. It's mainly because it's hard enough just to keep the thing growing while avoiding a lot of bugs (often simply fixing what we've already done, i.e., regressions).

I've been thinking about another idea as well: an automatically-generated "community to do list." We can easily detect the following problem situations:
  1. There are over four unranked (white-background) bitts; or a bitts has gone unranked by anyone for more than an hour.
  2. A bitt is currently ranked in the top two but has fewer than four facts (or one source, or one contributor...but mostly we want multiple facts).
  3. Fewer than five Top Stories bitts have more than one contributor.
  4. Fewer than five Top Stories bitts have more than one fact.
  5. etc.
Ideally we would then add (temporarily-available) bonuses to people who addressed the problems listed.

All in good time.

That sounds great too! All in good time, yes.
