Steve, thanks for the feedback!

The like button simply increments the counter. It doesn't affect the rank of the fact liked or of the bitt. As to what it means...well, it's experimental. What it means will depend on what we decide it means.

I'm very tentatively inclined to say it's a quick way to thank people for their work. In that case, perhaps it would make sense to change "Like" to "Thank"...? After all, one thing that inspired this was my own desire to thank people particularly for adding facts to bitts I've started...and generally for particularly brilliant work.

I've already made a card for the feature you've requested (repeatedly!) and I agree—it does seem to be needed, i.e., a way to easily rank a bitt from within the bitt itself. But that's no what the "Like" button does.

Hi Larry:

What does a Like button do ?
- is it just a counter of Like's which gets incremented
- or does it affect the rank of a Bitt

I would really like to have a quick an easy way to dispatch a Bitt when I have it open and I'm reading it in depth.  I would like the "Like" button to move into top ten, and a dislike (move to Pool) button to move a Bitt to pool.

I Like it!

(1) Is this an improvement?
(2) Will you be "liking" facts?
(3) If you are a bitt author, will you be checking to see if people like your facts?

I hate how Facebook had corrupted "Like," but I'll give it a try at InfoBitt. I like "Thank." nextdoor.com has a thank button. I use it much, much more than the like at Facebook.

Thanks, Tim--I'm inclined to agree.

I wonder if there are any other small improvements that can be made? Two I've thought of are (a) a list of the people who have liked a fact, popping up a la Facebook, (b) changing the color of the like (or thank) button after you have liked a fact (but I think this might already be on staging), and of course (c) notifications that facts of yours have been liked.
