Here's a tentative mission statement for the Infobitt community:
The news is noisy. Facts are scattered across a zillion different sources, and they are hard to find because the different sources repeat each other. What if you just want all the facts about all the stories, with the facts summarized and put in order of importance, and with the stories put in order of importance (both top stories and in categories). Also, you'd like it updated constantly. Is that really too much to ask?
Of course it is, for traditional news media companies. They just don't have the resources. The only way to do it is by bringing together an enormous online community, organizing them in a certain way—basically, the same way that we organized Wikipedia. At scale, people will be able to come to Infobitt and get caught up, really caught up, without wasting time. Our democracies will together create a tool that could make us better informed than any in history.
We're on a mission, and we're not just saying that.
The list has two basic rules. Just (a) don't spam us, and (b) be nice. Management reserves the ban anyone who offends, annoys, and/or unduly wastes our time.
Welcome!
