SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Maui High Performance Computing Center, managed by the University
of New Mexico and located in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii, has an opening for a
computational Chemist. Using the MHPCC SP-2, applies and adapts tools
to chemistry problems and assists users in developing parallelized
chemistry software. Periodic teaching functions will be performed at
workshops in Maui and at the UNM Albuquerque Resource Center.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Senior Applications Services Analyst II - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering,
Science, or Mathematics and five (5) years experience in scientific FORTRAN
and/or C programming in a UNIX environment; or an MS with three (3) years
experience; or a Ph.D. Senior Applications Services Analyst III - Bachelor's
Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics and six (6) years of experience
in scientific FORTRAN and/or C programming in a UNIX environment; or an MS
with four (4) or more years of directly related experience, or a Ph.D. with
two (2) or more years of directly related experience.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: Experience with methods of molecular electronic structure
theory, molecular dynamics calculations or other techniques of
computational chemistry. DESIRED: Experience with distributed memory
parallel programming. Experience with chemistry applications on the
IBM SP2 and user support activities. Familiarity with chemistry
software packages such as GAMESS and GAUSSIAN. Ph.D. with
postdoctoral experience. Must exhibit a high level of self-motivation
and have good interpersonal and communications skills.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position may be filled as a Senior Applications Services Analyst
II or III, depending on applicant qualifications. Salary range for
Maui location only. The salary for this position includes a
$1,250/Mo. supplement to compensate for the cost of living in Hawaii.
Positions transferring out of Hawaii will revert to the UNM staff
classification and salary structure according to Policy 3500
(University Business Policies and Procedures Manual). May be assigned
to different work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Successful candidate will be required to furnish official college
transcripts, certifications and/or licenses to be copied and added to
the personnel file. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.
