LECTURESHIPS

Initial salaries within the range 16,045-27,985 sterling.

As part of a major initiative to enhance its research excellence
in the area of Information Systems, we are seeking to appoint
four Lectureships, for an initial period of five years.

Applications are sought from individuals with an outstanding
research record in any area of Computer Science, but applications will
be particularly welcomed from individuals who will contribute to the
Department's growing research in the areas of networked information
systems, distributed database management, network security, data
compression, multimedia, distance learning and electronic commerce.
These areas can be broadly interpreted and research may range from basic
theory to pragmatic development.

The posts arises from expansion of the CONNECT centre within the
Department. The centre has wide regional, national and international links.
A major component of its mission is to assist the Merseyside region in
adopting and exploiting the Internet and related technologies. Applicants
may be required to participate in teaching and course development for this
