symbolics lisp software

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Natalie. I'm from Surabaya, Indonesia. I'm a college student
majoring in Computer Science.
I am interested in Common Lisp and a beginner in learning CL.
I read David S. Touretszky book about CL introduction.
However, I need to practise it on my computer. I couldn't find the
software in my country.
So here are my questions:

1. Is Symbolics Lisp a Common Lisp ? Because I knew that mulisp-90 isn't.

2. Is there Symbolics Lisp version on DOS and Windows (3.1 or 95)?

How much space it needs?

3. Can you tell me the download version or free version of it?

If yes, where can I get it?


For your information I have a PC at home, Windows '95 OS, Processor
Pentium 166, RAM 16 MB, hard disk 250 MB.

4. What the differences and advantages of Symbolics compared to the other
CL softwares?

You are clearly a student with good taste in computer languages! :-)

I read David S. Touretszky book about CL introduction.
However, I need to practise it on my computer. I couldn't find the
software in my country.

To just practice with Common Lisp, you could probably get by with some
of the free lisps out there. For example, see
http://www.harlequin.com/products/ads/freelisp/freelisp.html for
details about Harlequin's free lisp product.

So here are my questions:

1. Is Symbolics Lisp a Common Lisp ? Because I knew that mulisp-90 isn't.

Symbolics Lisp is in the Common Lisp family.

2. Is there Symbolics Lisp version on DOS and Windows (3.1 or 95)?
How much space it needs?

Symbolics used to have a Lisp which ran on a PC, but they might not be
selling it at this time. I recommend contacting the folks listed at
http://www.symbolics.com/ for more information.
