I don't think you need to patch anything, you just need to modify the defaults
config file before compiling qi and specify that if a user doesn't specify a
Qi field to be queried Qi assumes it's the field "alias" and not "name" which
I think is in defaults config file by default.
I think that's all you gotta do, unless I misunderstood something, which
wouldn't be unusual...

I'm greedy and want BOTH! The old patch allows it to fall through and
look for an alias match if it doesn't find a name/nickname match.
Remember that most users can't quite grasp the concept of having to add
arguments to a query, and besides, most people at NIH use an email
interface to ph so they just mail a name or an alias to an address and
the answer comes back!
