POSITIONS OPEN FOR PROGRAM DIRECTOR, ASSOCIATE PROGRAM DIRECTOR,
ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The positions listed in this section do not necessarily represent
all current vacancies at NSF. To hear a listing of posted NSF

divisions/offices accept applications for rotational positions

announcement. The per annum salary levels, which include a locality
pay adjustment, are as follows:

Program Director Level IV--$62,473 to $97,366;
Associate Program Director Level III--$52,867 to $83,284;
Assistant Program Director Level II--$37,094 to $68,729.

DIRECTORATE FOR ENGINEERING (ENG)

Position and Location: A nationwide search for applicants is under
way to fill Program Director positions in the following Divisions:
Bioengineering and Environmental Systems (BES); Chemical and
Transport Systems (CTS) (openings are in the Chemical Reaction
Processes and Interfacial, Transport, and Separation Processes
Programs); Civil and Mechanical Systems (CMS) (openings are in the
Geomechanical, Geotechnical, and Geo-Environmental Systems and
Mechanics and Materials Programs); Design, Manufacture, and
Industrial Innovation (DMII) (openings are in the Manufacturing
Machines and Equipment and Small Business Innovation Research
Programs); Engineering Education and Centers (EEC); and Electrical
and Communications Systems (ECS) (openings are in the Solid State
and Microstructures Program). Consideration of applications will be
under way this spring and will continue until a selection has been
made.
Type of Employment: Permanent or one- or two-year
rotational/temporary basis under the terms of the Visiting
Scientist Program. Alternatively, the position may be filled under
the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA). IPA applicants must be
permanent, career employees of their current employer for at least
90 days before entering into a mobility assignment agreement with
a federal agency.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide stewardship of integrated
research and education in a particular discipline, a set of
disciplines, and/or across disciplines, within the context of
agency vision, mission, and goals, and within the framework of
guiding legislation and agency policies and resources.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in a
relevant disciplinary area; a successful research and education
career in academe, industry, or government; substantial management
expertise; and six or more years of research experience beyond the
Ph.D. are required.

Probability; Modern Analysis; Classical Analysis; and Geometric
Analysis.
Type of Employment: One- or two-year rotational/temporary basis
under the terms of the Visiting Scientist Program.
Duties and Responsibilities: Proposal evaluation, project
development, and scientific planning.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a related field
and six or more years of research experience beyond the Ph.D. are
required. A broad, general knowledge of the desired field plus
specific research accomplishments are desirable.
