This is been subject of *many* postings.
After much discussion w/ HP and interview by PC Week magazine....

This is an inherent "flaw" in the LJ4 engine. The 4, unlike the LJIII, has
hotter fuser and thus creates the creases anywhere from across the length-wise
edges to just a bow wave near the ends.

The same engine, and thus the same problem exists in the Apple version of this
same printer. I have personally visited and tested close to 15 different
sampled units located throughout Houson.

To some, it's totally acceptable. To others, it's terrible.

It looks like the Pickup Roller and most likely the Seperation Pad need to
be replaced. (You usually don't replace one without the other) On average,
for our printers, the total cost comes out around $40 for parts. But I
guess that will depend on whatever service agreement you have.
