Don't worry about the mystery files. These are a normal byproduct
of using the | function. They occur with MORE, FIND etc. What
happens is that the output from the first command (in your case
DIR) is routed to an output temporary file or files and then
input back into the second command in the pipe (MORE in this
case). Once all the piping is finished dos deletes the temp
files. If you're curious about the content of the files you
can use dos undelete to recover and view them. It should be
just text stuff.
