Dear Benoit,

I cannot complete the survey below and so am returning it to you. Before
I can feel comfortable completing it and forwarding it to others,
you should first be more descriptive aobut the study - who is sponsoring
it, who is doing it, what the goals of the survey are, and how it might
be used, who will be working with the data, etc.. As you know,
people are becoming very wary of descriptive surveys such as this
which have very little information context and whose purposes are
not well-defined.

There is no provision for privacy or protection of individual
user names and profiles; the reply feature will
link individuals to the demographics of the survey; this is a
flawed gathering mechanism, and the concerns about how this
information (no matter how innocous) may be used are very real.

I am copying this back to the isoc-interest list, because I
believe that all of us need to raise our awareness regarding
protections on the net.

I hope you will take steps to insure privacy and provide better
information about this project so that users will then be
reassured and encouraged to participate.

Thanks,

Greg Anderson
