Am I the first one to try this combination? All I seem to be able
to get from it is a long stream of messages in the syslog... And no
working multicast routing... :-/

My multicast kernel in Solaris 2.5 works with the mrouted daemon
(but I need a daemon that supports PIM so that was why I'm looking
into gated), but not so with Gated. Any suggestions?

(Please reply to me in personally since I don't normally read this
list via email but via the Hypertext interface instead).

I have never tried this on solaris. Is it mrouted 3.5 kernel compatible?
Also, there are some kernel patches required for PIM asserts to work
correctly. Bill Fenner has these but has not made a new kernel release
in a long time. The DVMRP pruning code is broken. I think with my new job,
I will making another pass at both of these protocols. I need to do
some rework of the core multicast code first.

One learns alot from the first implementation. And no, I don't have
a schedule yet. I have been optimistic in the past which has gotten
me into trouble and, therefore, I'm keeping quiet this time.

If you try to use this code now, you'll probably end up doing some
debugging.
