Here's my observation on this ridiculous (sp?) matter. Goetz went wrong for
being in court. It is 12 years *AFTER* the incident took place. Why has the
civil case dragged on for so long? Also the Jury trying this case was not
very mindful of the fact that 12 years ago, New York City was *ALOT* more
dangerous than it is today. Thanks to a Mayor who actually did what he said
he would do, NYC seems to be in better shaped than say 2 years ago.

IHMO, Goetz should have made sure everyone of those bastards was dead. Instead
of saying "you look ok, here have another!", He should have said "Hasta La
Vista, baby!!" and plugged the guy in the head. Dead men can't tell their
side of the story, hence no lawsuit.

One thing to come out of this mess, we should look to pass a law stating that
if you commit a felonious crime and are injured in the process of committing
this crime (Ie get shot!), then you are forfeit your rights to sue anybody.
This would keep these ridiculous lawsuits out of the courts. Robbers don't
have rights as far as I'm concerned so they shouldn't get money from the
person for shooting them.

The lawyer for Cabey stated that this will teach racists and bigots with guns
that it does pay to shoot someone. I would tell him, This case only makes
me want to improve my aim to make sure the guy is dead if he were robbing me.

just my last 2 cents
