I am looking for some help using the latest versions of Bind and IMS on
Windows NT 3.51.
My problem is probably a DNS problem of some sort, but it manifests itself
as a problem
with IMS.
I have two domain names registered to different IP addresses on the same NT
server.
Ibdata.com is at 155.229.203.65 and Cargo1.com is at 155.229.203.81. I was
trying to
set up IMS to accept mail for either of these domains.
IMS will run ok with both domains in my DNS as long as there is only one IP
address in the
machine. As soon as I add the second IP address, SMTPDS won't run properly.
The telltale sign that something is wrong with the DNS is that SMTPDS
-ipaddress returns
the following:
155.229.203.65 www.ibdata.com
155.229.203.81 www.ibdata.com < this SHOULD be
www.cargo1.com, no?
If I do an NSLOOKUP from this machine, it will find both domain names and
give the proper
addresses. If I ping ibdata.com and cargo1.com, they both answer and show
the proper address.
They will both respond to web pages properly as well. Only IMS is having a
problem with the
setup.
I'm just a hack at this, and am trying to help out a friend that's even
worse off than I am <g>.
So I'm just learning as I go.
Anyone have a clue as to what would cause this problem? I can e-mail
someone the DNS files if
it'll help.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
